Top Model Hawaii - Season 1 Winner
Most of us have heard the term "fierce," which is a word made popular by the former host of America's Next Top Model, the fabulous Tyra Banks. This one word encompasses everything that is T'jan Hall! T'jan was born on December 24, 1993 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Me'Shawn Davis and Robert Taylor. Throughout her childhood, she found that she was a natural at sports and other activities like soccer, cheer leading and dance.
"It was fun! I had a fun group of kids I played with regularly when I was younger."
She is the youngest of her siblings. T'jan, brother Audeus, sister Mya, her mother and step-father, Jevon Davis, all moved to Hawaii in 2011. Her step-father was stationed on the island of Oahu where he served in the military.
"Moving to Hawaii was a 'BIG CHANGE'" T'jan stressed. "It really took some time getting use to. At the time, I felt like I was stuck on a little island and it made me feel like I was going crazy. Eventually, I ended up falling in love with Hawaii. Although it was really hard in the beginning, I eventually found a way to adjust and now I love, love, love Hawaii and its weather!"
Not long after she moved here, T'jan found her new passion in the form of modeling. Photographers started asking her if she'd be willing to model for them so they could add photos to their portfolios.
"Fortunately for me, most of the photographers who asked me to be in their photos were just starting off like I was, so we were able to rise together."
"I really love that, because we were all learning together and helping to support one another," T'jan shared with gratitude and joy in her tone.
Eventually, T'jan heard about a Model Casting Call that was being held by Model Mayhem for college age students. "I decided to try for it, but when I got there, I was sure I did horrible!" She laughed. "But they actually ended up emailing me back saying that they wanted me in the fashion show!"
T'jan continued on to say how excited and nervous she was leading up to the show, but when push came to shove, she stepped out on that stage and completely transformed into a confident and seasoned model.
"I knew at that moment that I did a great job!" T'jan insisted. After the fashion show, T'jan was able to connect and network with other models, designers, makeup artists and professionals in the Fashion Industry.
"All of these individuals really helped by letting me know where the modeling jobs were," she shared.
Not long after that, a friend of T'jan's, Gwen Kenwright, introduced her to Keikilani Ho, CEO of Top Model Hawaii. It was during this time, that Keikilani started auditioning and casting for Top Model Hawaii!
"Throughout the season, I really began to develop my confidence as a model, and by the finale, I really believed that I could win!"
T'jan Hall won Top Model Hawaii Season 1. Since her victory, she has gone on to model for many more designers and has even crossed over to the Entertainment Industry. T'jan has done background work many times on the popular show, Hawaii Five-0. She has also had a guest appearance in the movie 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates,' which was filmed here in Hawaii. The future is lookng bright for T'jan who just recently moved to L.A. to continue pursuing her dreams within the Fashion and Entertainment Industries.
T'jan has had many incredible experiences and she shared that one of the most exciting prizes she received after winning Top Model Hawaii was a "FREE plane ticket and hotel stay in London to compete for Top Model Worldwide!" She was also offered the opportunity to walk in the much coveted, London Fashion Week!
